Terms of Service

Last updated 23 October 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and Haviland (“Haviland”, “we”, “us”), which is based in Israel. They cover our website, the invite list, the Haviland desktop application and the online service it uses to reach its AI model (together, “Haviland”). By using Haviland you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy and our Safety notice. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Haviland.

The short version

  • Haviland is an AI. Its designs, code and checks can be wrong, so check everything before you build it, power it or rely on it.

  • You control what Haviland may do. It asks before it goes beyond its default permissions, and you’re responsible for what you approve and what you build.

  • Electronics, batteries, motors and tools can cause fire, injury and damage. Read the Safety notice before you start.

  • Your projects stay yours, on your computer.

  • The beta is invite-only and unfinished, and it can change or stop. There’s no price yet.

  • There’s no minimum age, but under-18s need a parent or guardian’s agreement, and accounts for under-18s aren’t open yet.

This summary is a reading aid. It isn’t part of the Terms.

1. Who we are

Haviland is based in Israel. You can reach us at legal@haviland.software.

Haviland is in beta. We may change how Haviland is organised, for example by moving it into a company. Section 17 explains what happens to these Terms if we do.

2. Who can use Haviland

2.1 There is no minimum age to use Haviland. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you may use Haviland only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian. They must agree to these Terms on your behalf, and they are responsible for your use of Haviland.

2.2 Accounts for people under 18 are not open yet. We will open them once Haviland has the additional safety features that younger users need. Until then, only people who are 18 or older, or the age of majority where they live if that is higher, may create an account for the online service.

2.3 If you are under 13, or under the age at which you can consent to online services in your country (up to 16 in some countries), a parent or guardian must request the invite for you, using their own email address, and must supervise your use.

2.4 You, or the parent or guardian who accepts these Terms for you, must be able to enter into a binding contract, and must not be barred from using Haviland under the laws that apply (see section 4).

2.5 If you use Haviland on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for it, and “you” includes that organisation.

3. The beta

3.1 Haviland is in beta and invite-only. Joining the invite list does not guarantee an invite. We decide who we invite and when.

3.2 Beta software is unfinished. Features may change, stop working or be removed, we may set limits on how much you can use the online service, and we may pause or end the beta at any time.

3.3 There is no price for Haviland yet. If we introduce fees, we will tell you the price and the terms before anything is charged, and you will not be charged without your agreement.

3.4 Keep your own backups of anything that matters to you. Haviland keeps a history of each project on your computer, but we cannot recover files that are lost or damaged on your computer.

4. Where Haviland is available

4.1 The online service is offered only in the countries and regions where our AI model provider offers its service.

4.2 You may not use the online service if you are located in, or ordinarily resident in, or acting for a person or organisation in: Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, the Gaza Strip or the West Bank; any other place that Israeli law treats as an enemy state; or any country or region subject to comprehensive sanctions. You may not use it if you are named on a sanctions list.

4.3 We may block access from these places, and we may close accounts that break this section.

5. Your account

5.1 Some features need an account. Give accurate details, keep your sign-in private, and tell us promptly at legal@haviland.software if you think someone else has used it. You are responsible for activity under your account.

5.2 Sign-in and accounts may be run for us by a service provider.

5.3 You can stop using Haviland at any time. To close your account, email us.

6. Haviland is an AI, and its work must be checked

6.1 Haviland is an AI system. When you talk to it, you are talking to software, not to a person.

6.2 AI output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. That includes part choices, dimensions, tolerances, calculations, wiring, firmware and safety advice. Haviland’s checks and simulations are models of a machine, not measurements of a real one. A design that passes Haviland’s checks can still fail, overheat or hurt someone in the real world.

6.3 You must check any design, code, calculation or statement before you rely on it, build it, power it or share it, and you must test what you build carefully.

6.4 Haviland does not provide professional engineering, electrical, safety, legal or medical advice, and it is not a certified design tool. Use a qualified professional wherever one is needed.

6.5 Similar requests can produce different results, and other users may receive output that is similar to yours.

7. Hardware, safety and what you allow Haviland to do

7.1 Building electronics and machines carries real risks, including electric shock, fire, burns, battery failure, moving parts, flying debris and hazards from tools and 3D printers. Read our Safety notice before you build anything.

7.2 Haviland works within permission levels that you control. In its default mode it can read and change your project and compile firmware, and it must ask you before it goes any further, for example before it runs a part file as a program or writes to a connected board. You are responsible for every action you approve, for any mode you switch on and for the hardware you connect. Read what Haviland proposes before you say yes.

7.3 Do not use Haviland to design, build or control anything whose failure could cause death, serious injury or serious damage, such as medical devices, life-support equipment, vehicles, aircraft, drones flown near people, safety systems, or anything connected to mains electricity, unless you are qualified to do that work and you check and test it independently.

7.4 Anyone under 18 must have an adult supervise any hands-on work with electricity, batteries, motors, tools or 3D printers, and must never work with mains electricity.

7.5 You are responsible for following the laws and safety rules that apply to what you build and use, including product-safety, electrical, radio and environmental rules if you sell or give away a device.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use Haviland to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;

  • design, build or improve weapons, explosives, or anything intended to harm people, animals or property;

  • support military end uses, nuclear, chemical or biological weapons, missiles or space launch, or any other use controlled under export-control law;

  • create or seek sexual content involving minors, or groom, exploit, harass or impersonate anyone, including a minor;

  • access systems, devices or data you are not authorised to access, or get around security measures;

  • reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with Haviland or its online service, or get around its usage limits, except where the law expressly allows it;

  • resell, sublicense or share access to Haviland or to the AI model, use Haviland to build a competing product, or use Haviland’s inputs or outputs to train or evaluate AI models;

  • submit content you have no right to use, or personal data about other people without a lawful basis;

  • overload, disrupt or interfere with Haviland or with other users.

You must also follow Anthropic’s Usage Policy, which applies to anyone using its AI models through Haviland.

We may suspend or end your access if we reasonably believe you have broken this section. Where the law and security allow, we will tell you why. We report child sexual abuse material to the authorities where the law requires it.

9. Your content and your projects

9.1 As between you and us, you own your prompts, your projects and the output Haviland produces for you, to the extent the law allows. We do not claim ownership of them.

9.2 Your projects are stored on your computer. When you ask Haviland for help, the parts of your project needed to answer are sent to our AI model provider to generate the response. The Privacy Policy explains this in detail.

9.3 You give us permission to process your content only as needed to run Haviland for you, to keep it secure and to comply with the law.

9.4 We do not use your prompts, projects or output to train AI models.

9.5 You are responsible for your content, and for having the rights to the files, datasheets and third-party designs you add to a project.

10. The Haviland software

10.1 Subject to these Terms, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the Haviland application for your own projects during the beta.

10.2 Haviland, including its software, website, designs, name and logo, belongs to us or our licensors. These Terms do not give you any right to use our name or logo.

10.3 Haviland includes or works with third-party and open-source software, which is licensed under its own terms. Those terms apply to those components. See our Notices page.

10.4 We may update the application. Some updates may be needed to keep using the online service.

11. Third-party tools and services

Haviland works with tools and services we do not control, such as Anthropic’s AI models, OpenSCAD, Blender, arduino-cli, whisper.cpp, git and the websites the AI reads for you. Your use of them is subject to their own terms and licences, and they may change or stop working with Haviland. We are not responsible for them. If you connect your own Anthropic or Claude account, Anthropic’s terms for that account, including its age requirements, also apply.

12. Feedback

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without restriction and without paying you.

13. Ending or suspending access

You can stop using Haviland at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if we have to for legal or security reasons, or if we stop offering Haviland or the beta. Where it is reasonable, we will give you notice first. Sections 6, 7, 9.1 and 14 to 19 continue to apply after your access ends.

14. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent the law allows, Haviland is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, and without any warranty that Haviland will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free. We do not warrant that any design, code, simulation or check produced with Haviland is correct or safe.

15. Limitation of liability

15.1 To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, or for damage to hardware, property or projects, arising out of or relating to Haviland, even if we were told such damage was possible.

15.2 To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for all claims relating to Haviland is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Haviland in the 12 months before the claim and 100 US dollars.

15.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights that mandatory consumer law gives you.

16. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you will defend and indemnify us against claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, that arise from your projects, the devices you build or control, your content, or your breach of these Terms or of the law. This does not apply where the law does not permit it, including in consumer contracts where such terms are not allowed.

17. Changes to these Terms

17.1 We may update these Terms. For material changes, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email, in the application or on this website before they take effect, unless a faster change is required by law or needed to keep Haviland safe and secure. If you keep using Haviland after the changes take effect, you accept them. If you don’t agree, stop using Haviland.

17.2 We may transfer these Terms to another organisation, including a company formed to run Haviland or a company that acquires it, as long as your rights under them are not reduced. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the competent courts in Tel Aviv-Jaffa have exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, or your right to bring proceedings there. Before starting a claim, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the issue informally.

19. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the policies they refer to, are the entire agreement between you and us about Haviland.

  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.

  • No waiver. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.

  • Events beyond our control. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events we cannot reasonably control.

  • Language. These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation, the English version prevails to the extent the law allows.

  • Notices. We will send notices to the email address you gave us, or show them in Haviland. Send notices to us at legal@haviland.software.

20. Contact and reports

Email legal@haviland.software with questions about these Terms, and to report safety concerns, security vulnerabilities, intellectual-property complaints or misuse of Haviland, including anything that involves a child.
